Location: KHAF, Rwy 12
Date/Time: January 1, 2008 - 1600 GMT (10am USA Central)
Aircraft: dhc2W (stock)
Rules: no autopilot assist, no aircraft mods, enable real weather, no time acceleration, no pausing, no cheating! :-)
Guidelines: Please use the latest v1.0 aircraft and scenery. Keep the runway clear for the active participant. Events will be announced at the final moment via MP chat (and here) so that no one is able to practice. The CD makes the final determination in all scoring and is the sole interpreter (and author) of the rules.
Participant Order: HHS, PaperFly, Torsten, RVO, GFS, xii, FlyEGCN, ac6vc, fatty, HHS2
Event Two: Mass event, everyone at once, try not to run into each other, but don't worry about it if it happens. Cutting across the grass is allowed.
On my command, taxi as quickly as possible to the end of runway 12 and take off. Climb to 1000' as fast as possible. As soon as you clear 1000' MSL, land as quickly as possible. First one down in one piece wins, although I probably won't be able to tell who that is. This is just for fun, not scored.
Results!
1. (TIE) Xii, flyEGCN
3. ac6vc
4. Fatty
5. Torston
6. PaperFly
7. GFS
8. (TIE) HHS, RVO
Comments:
Only the first event was scored. The second event was just for fun.
Xii had the fastest overall time, but nosed over on the landing and got a penalty. FlyEGCN flew a bit slower time, but got a smaller altitude penalty. The net result was a tie.
We only had one crash, good work to everyone! HHS had a spectacular cart wheel in the first turn, followed by a huge fireball and shower of debris. He also took out 3 square blocks of the town of Half Moon Bay. Fortunately he punctured the water tower which flooded the town and kept the situation from turning into a complete trajedy. :-) We let him reset and try again at the end.
Fatty had a great run going, but got shot down by an an2 that came into the system on final and lagged his frame rates severely.
PaperFly, RVO, and ac6vc all had great clean runs with no penalties.
The mass fly to SFO at the end was a great idea. Unfortunately the CD ran out of fuel in the hills halfway in between. I called out a few maydays, but I think everyone was already off for beers by then! This is going to be a long thirsty walk back to the airport.
