Great Planes Ultra Sport 40 ARF (Red)

Built May 2002 - May 2003.

I cracked open the box on May 19, 2002 and had it flying a year later (ouch considering it is an ARF ... my fault not the kit's ...) It is a real hotrod, but with an 11x6 prop on an OS 46FX, it's pretty tame on approach and landing. When I first flew it in May 2003 it was a bit above my skill level, but now with some more experience under my belt, this plane is a blast. It's fast and solid in the air, tracks straight (even though I haven't put much effort into tweaking the balance and trim.) My "biggest" problem is that due to it's speed, it gets "little" really fast. :-) It is "old school" ARF construction with not as much wood as you'd like and it is covered with a thick laminated foam/plastic sheet that would be nearly impossible to replace/repair.
