Wednesday, May 21, 2008: Today I flew for the first time with the newly installed electric power system: an E-Flight 46 motor, Castle Creations Phoenix 60 speed controller, an 8000 mAh 18.5v lipo battery, and a 12x6 wood prop from the original 4-stroke motor.

April 13, 2008: Summary: I was able to get the engine fixed (a Magnum 61) but in the process I decided to convert this aircraft to electric power. I purchased and installed an E-Flight 46 motor and now I'm waiting until I get a few real life financial things taken care of before I buy the speed controller.

July 28, 2007: I got the engine started, and then during runup it died, and would not start again. I dropped the valve cover and discovered loose parts floating around. Not a good thing.

Saturday, May 20, 2006: I removed the quick fuel valve and became much happier with my engine performance and tuning.

EGN-1 is intended to be a test platform for a variety of low budget aerial photography and UAV related ideas I have (or hope to have.) :-) I'm not planning to do anything especially new here, but I would like to play around with things like aerial photography, onboard power generation, self stabalization/self navigation, and maybe a few other ideas that come along in the mean time. The Kadet Senior airframe has a fair bit of room and starts out with an extremely light wing loading. There is quite a bit of room and carrying capacity to add electronics, cameras, batteries, etc.
